Senator Thom Tillis sent profanity-laced texts to Donald Trump
Newly revealed private text messages reveal a heated confrontation between North Carolina Republican Senator Thom Tillis and Donald Trump. The exchanges, which are expected to be featured in Tillis’ upcoming book, “How to Lose Friends and Antagonize Presidents,” show the senator using profanity to push back against the president.
In a message sent on May 22, Tillis told Trump, “I still want to help but I don’t take this bull**** from anyone, including you Mr. President.” He further stated, “Save that s*** for the cowards who don’t care if you fail. I care if you fail and right now we are failing.”
The messages followed public attacks from Trump, who had labeled Tillis a “nitpicker” and “weak and ineffective” on Truth Social. Tillis, who announced in June 2025 that he would not seek reelection following disagreements over administration policies, has become an increasingly vocal critic of the president.
