Senator Van Hollen calls for resignation of US Ambassador Mike Huckabee

Senator Chris Van Hollen has called for the resignation of Mike Huckabee, the US Ambassador to Israel, accusing him of failing to protect American interests and citizens. Van Hollen stated that Huckabee has become an apologist for the current Israeli government and has failed to hold Israel accountable for the mistreatment and wrongful detention of US citizens.

In a video shared on social media, Van Hollen cited specific instances of American citizens being detained or abused by Israeli security forces. He also noted that more than two dozen US senators have urged the ambassador to address the deaths of nine Americans over the last four years involving the Israel Defense Forces or Israeli settlers in the West Bank.

Furthermore, Van Hollen criticized Huckabee for his perceived lack of compassion regarding violent settler attacks on Christian villages in the West Bank, suggesting the ambassador has prioritized his own experiences as a visitor over the rights of local Christian communities.
