Senator Veneziano Vital do Rêgo linked to BR-230 highway funding controversy

Reports have emerged regarding the allocation of R$ 210 million in parliamentary amendments by Senator Veneziano Vital do Rêgo (MDB-PB) for expansion works on the BR-230 highway in Paraíba. Allegations suggest that the construction consortels responsible for the projects sub-contracted companies linked to relatives and partners of former and current staff members of the senator’s office.

Specifically, documentation indicates that companies such as Selecta Construções and Com Infraestrutura e Mineração (formerly Comtech) were involved in sub-contracts. Comtech was reportedly linked to Rodrigo Neves, a former staffer in the senator’s office, while Selecta is registered to his brother-in-law. Additionally, Marcelo Neves, the brother of Rodrigo Neves, has worked in the senator’s office since 2019.

Official records from the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) confirm federal investments in segments of the BR-230, including a R$ 547 million project between Campina Grande and Farinha and a R$ 164.5 million project near João Pessoa and Cabedelo.
