Pokemon GO Wild Area 2026 in Sendai sparks hotel surge

Niantic announced that the real‑world Pokémon GO Wild Area 2026 will be held in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture from November 6‑8, with a simultaneous global Wild Area event on November 14‑15. The announcement triggered a rush of trainers securing accommodation, leaving most hotels in the city fully booked and driving nightly rates to several tens of thousands of yen, with some stays exceeding ¥100,000. Flights to Sendai Airport are also quickly filling, prompting travelers to consider nearby cities or day‑trips by shinkansen.

Separate summer‑season promotions are also underway in Japan. In Yokohama’s Minato Mirai district, the Pokémon Sleep 3rd Anniversary runs through August 23, featuring stamp‑rally activities, a giant Snorlax display, and themed merchandise. Across the country, Pokémon Center stores host a “Pokémon Center Summer” event until August 31, offering sticker giveaways, “dress‑up” photo spots and limited‑edition T‑shirts. Both initiatives celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary and aim to attract families and fans during the school holiday period.
