The announcement triggered a rush of trainers securing accommodation, leaving most hotels in the city fully booked and driving nightly rates to several tens of thousands of yen, with some stays exceeding ¥100,000. Flights to Sendai Airport are also quickly filling, prompting travelers to consider nearby cities or day‑trips by shinkansen.

Separate summer‑season promotions are also underway in Japan. In Yokohama’s Minato Mirai district, the Pokémon Sleep 3rd Anniversary runs through August 23, featuring stamp‑rally activities, a giant Snorlax display, and themed merchandise.
