Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya has authorized the medical evacuation of two former high-ranking officials, former Prime Minister Ibrahima Kassory Fofana and former National Assembly President Amadou Damaro Camara, to receive specialized treatment abroad.

Doumbouya clarified in a national address that the decision was made on purely humanitarian grounds and does not constitute amnesty or a pardon. He emphasized that the judicial authority remains intact and that the convictions against both men remain fully in effect and are not being renegotiated.

Amadou Damaro Camara, who was sentenced to three years and six months in prison for corruption and embezzlement, departed for Atlanta, USA, with an expected return in early November. Ibrahima Kassory Fofana, sentenced to three years and nine months for money laundering and illicit enrichment, was transported to Paris, France, via a specialized medical flight chartered by the presidency.
