Senegal and Gambia Finalize Historic Border Delimitation Agreement

Following the security flashpoint known as the Bullock incident, the governments of Senegal and The Gambia have signed a definitive agreement to demarcate their shared international border. The accord establishes a permanent physical line of demarcation, ending decades of informal oversight and administrative ambiguity along the frontier.

Local leaders, such as Mamadou Lamine Diédhiou, coordinator of Narang Ouest, said the clear boundary will stabilise trade routes, simplify customs and policing, and reduce regulatory hurdles for residents, farmers and merchants who cross the border daily. The agreement is intended to provide lasting regional stability and improve economic integration for communities on both sides of the frontier.
