Senegal and Israel report economic growth and sector developments

In Senegal, an analysis of GDP growth between 2015 and 2021 by the National Agency of Statistics and Demography (Ansd) shows a slight variation between data series. While the old series showed an average annual growth of 5.5% compared to 5.4% in the new series, the trends remained similar until 2019. In 2019, the new series reported a higher growth rate of 6.5% versus 4.6% in the old series, driven by significant revisions in non-market production, including improved estimates for mining prospecting and research and development.

In Israel, economic forecasts predict solid GDP growth of 3.5% for 2026 and between 3.3% and 5.6% for 2027, with a total GDP of approximately $540 billion. The economy is characterized by a strong high-tech sector, with over 6,000 startups and significant investment in R&D. Despite the financial pressures of military expenditures, the budget deficit is maintained at 3.3% of GDP due to high tax revenues. Additionally, Israel has transitioned from an energy importer to an exporter through offshore natural gas fields.
