Senegal announces major government and agency appointments

During an exceptional Council of Ministers meeting presided over by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the Senegalese government announced a series of high-level appointments across various state agencies and ministries.

Key leadership changes include the appointment of Assane Kasse as Director General of SOGEPA SN and Moussa Diop as Delegate General for the promotion of urban poles in Diamniadio and Lac Rose. In the energy sector, Thierno Alia Mbengue was named Director General of the National Agency for Renewable Energies (ANER), Pape Momar Ngom was appointed to lead the Senegalese Rural Electrification Agency (ASER) amid ongoing administrative controversies, and Jean Baptiste Diouf was named Chairman of the Board of SENELEC.

Other notable appointments include Babacar Abba Mbaye as Director General of the National Waste Management Company (SONAGED) and Cheikh Issa Sall as Director General of the Agency for the Construction of Public Buildings and Edifices (ACBEP). The government also addressed regional development, with Taibou Diedhiou and Bourama Dieme appointed to leadership roles within the National Agency for the Economic and Social Recovery of Casamance (ANRAC).
