Senegal celebrates International Soninké Language Day

On September 25, 2026, the International Soninké Language Day was celebrated at the Maison de la Culture Douta Seck. During the event, Senegal’s Minister of National Education, Moustapha Mamba Guirassy, emphasized the strategic importance of national languages in transforming the country's school system.

Guirassy highlighted that national languages serve as essential tools for building an inclusive and equitable educational environment that is rooted in local sociocultural realities. He called for collective action between the state, families, and community actors to utilize these languages as instruments for learning and development. The Minister also noted that linguistic diversity should be viewed as a strength that contributes to national unity.
