Senegal condemns rising xenophobic rhetoric and calls for unity

Think‑Tank Afrikajom Center founder Alioune Tine used his X account to denounce a surge in xenophobic and racist discourse in Senegal, urging the nation to uphold its tradition of "Teranga" – hospitality and tolerance – and to combat discrimination against migrants and minority groups.

The Party of Independence and Labour (PIT) issued a statement warning that xenophobic attacks targeting Guinean, Peul and other communities are dangerous and could lead to social conflict. The party called on President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and all patriotic forces to act against hate speech, citing past regional tensions and stressing the need for a united, inclusive Senegal.
