Senegal Education Minister reports 99% implementation of union agreements
Senegal’s Minister of National Education, Moustapha Guirassy, announced that 99% of the points in the agreement protocol with education unions have been addressed. The minister stated that the ministry has resolved essential issues, noting that while execution levels vary, the figure reflects significant progress toward the October deadline.
Specific achievements include the full payment of indemnities for external trainers at Regional Centers for Training Education Personnel (CRFPE) for the 2023–2025 period. Additionally, the payment rate for end-of-examination indemnities has exceeded 75%.
In light of announced strike orders at the start of the school year and the upcoming 2026 Dakar Youth Olympic Games, Guirassy called on teachers to prioritize dialogue and responsibility. He urged the teaching corps to lift the strike mandate to preserve the school system and the country's image, emphasizing that the well-being of students remains the primary priority.
