Senegal expands YONU JAM bus fleet to 400 with 200 new vehicles

The Senegalese Ministry of Ground and Air Transport (MITTA) officially launched the YONU JAM programme at the National Arena in Pikine, receiving 200 new inter‑regional buses. The addition raises the fleet size to 400 vehicles, doubling the network capacity.

The investment, valued at 12 billion FCFA, was financed by Coris Bank with vehicle supply from manufacturers Yutong and Tata Motors. A first batch of 200 buses had been placed in service in 2024. Transport Minister Abdoul Ahad Ndiaye said the rollout “is a concrete act in service of the population” and aligns with the recommendations of the General States of Transport and Senegal’s 2050 national agenda, aiming to improve mobility, safety and regional economic development.
