Senegal exports 2.94 million barrels of crude oil in September
In September 2026, Senegal exported 2.94 million barrels of crude oil and 0.33 million cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The crude oil shipments originated from the Sangomar field, while the LNG shipments were produced at the Grand Tortue/Ahmeyim (GTA) field.
The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum reported that crude oil production has begun a downward trend due to a decline in daily production levels. Conversely, the GTA gas field continues to show strong performance from its reservoir and installations.
Senegal has recently become an observer member of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF). The country holds significant energy potential, with the Rufisque and Sangomar blocks estimated to contain over one billion barrels of oil, and the GTA field estimated to hold 900 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
