Senegal exports rise 27% in July 2026 driven by crude oil

Senegal's exports rose by 27.3% in July 2026, reaching 668.2 billion FCFA compared to 524.7 billion FCFA the previous month. According to the Agence nationale de la statistique et de la démographie (ANSD), this growth was primarily driven by a surge in crude oil shipments, which increased from 87.7 billion FCFA in June to 273.4 billion FCFA in July.

Other contributing factors included increases in refined petroleum products and phosphoric acid. However, the overall growth was partially offset by declines in exports of liquefied natural gas, hydraulic cement, and fresh sea fish. Compared to July 2025, exports saw a significant year-on-year increase of 54.7%.

For the first seven months of 2026, cumulative exports reached 3,822.5 billion FCFA, up 16.8% from the same period in 2025. Major export destinations included Switzerland, the Netherlands, Mali, Malaysia, Finland, Turkey, and India. Meanwhile, imports decreased by 7.3% in July, totaling 606 billion FCFA.
