Guinea secures 2027 U-20 AFCON qualification with win over Senegal

The Guinea U-20 national team has qualified for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) following a 3-2 comeback victory against Senegal in the UFOA-A semi-finals. Played in Bamako, the match saw the defending champions, Senegal, take an early 2-0 lead.

Guinea, coached by Mohamed Lamine Sylla, mounted a second-half comeback to level the score before Ibrahima Tawel Ndiaye scored the decisive winning goal in the 112th minute during extra time. This victory marks Guinea's return to the continental tournament after a ten-year absence.

Guinea will face Gambia in the UFOA-A final on October 30, following Gambia's 2-0 semi-final victory over Sierra Leone. While Guinea advances to the 2027 tournament in Ghana, Senegal's defeat confirms they will not participate in the upcoming U-20 AFCON.
