Senegal Health Ministry says scanner at Maguette Lô Hospital funded publicly, not a personal gift

A new medical scanner has been installed at the Maguette Lô Hospital in Linguère, in Senegal's Louga region. On 2 August 2026 the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene issued a press release refuting social‑media claims that deputy El Hadji Malick Ndiaye personally donated the equipment. The ministry clarified that the scanner was purchased with public funds and the support of a technical‑financial partner, and praised the acquisition for improving diagnostic access and patient care in the area.

El Hadji Malick Ndiaye also posted a statement denying any personal donation, saying he merely conveyed the community’s request to the ministry and followed up the dossier. The ministry warned that attributing public projects to individual politicians can undermine trust with donors and jeopardise future funding, urging politicians and media to exercise responsibility when reporting on health investments.
