Senegal herder faces charges after machete attack in Ndioudiouf

A violent confrontation between two young herders in the village of Ndioudiouf, within the Sessène commune, has led to criminal proceedings following a machete attack. The dispute, which reportedly originated from insults regarding social caste, escalated when Khadim Ngom and B. Mbaye engaged in a physical altercation.

According to reports, Mbaye allegedly struck Ngom with a stick, prompting Ngom to retaliate with a machete. The attack resulted in Mbaye losing three fingers on his right hand. Following the incident, Ngom fled the scene but was later apprehended by gendarmes from the Thiadiaye brigade at his father's home.

Ngom has been detained at the Mbour correctional facility and faces charges of intentional assault and battery. While Ngom admitted to the injuries, he has claimed his actions were in self-defense. The victim was treated at the Thierno Mouhamadou Mansour Barro hospital in Mbour.
