Senegal and Tunisia explore agricultural and scientific cooperation
Senegalese Minister of Agriculture, Cheikhou Oumar Bâ, conducted a working visit to Tunisia to study the Tunisian agro-industrial model. During the visit, which coincided with the International Exhibition of Agriculture, Agricultural Machinery and Fishing (SIAT), the delegation inspected integrated value chains, including the dairy sector through visits to Natilait and the GIVLAIT organization.
Beyond industrial production, the mission focused on scientific collaboration. Discussions were held at the National Institute of Agronomic Research of Tunisia (INRAT) to explore partnerships between Tunisia’s INRAT and Senegal’s Institute of Agricultural Research for Senegal (ISRA). The goal is to foster knowledge exchange in areas such as crop yield improvement, natural resource management, and climate change adaptation.
In a separate development in Senegal, the Senegalese Agency for Space Studies (ASES) held a training workshop in Toubab Dialaw. The initiative aimed to educate journalists and religious leaders on space sciences and astronomy. Director General Maram Kairé emphasized that making space technology accessible is vital for national development in sectors like meteorology, agriculture, and flood management.
