Senegal influencer Réma implicated in 100 million CFA fraud
Police in Keur Massar say an 18‑year‑old man, the son of a Sandaga merchant, diverted more than 100 million CFA belonging to his father after being influenced by a romantic relationship with social‑media personality Réma, known as “Bébé Réma”. The investigation uncovered a network that allegedly extorted funds from the minor, laundered the money and concealed the proceeds.
Réma is accused of handling about 19 million CFA of the diverted funds. To avoid detention she returned a vehicle bought with part of the money, paid 5 million CFA and agreed to a repayment schedule for the remaining amount. Eight suspects have been detained, with several having already made partial repayments, while others are still at large.
The case is being pursued by the Brigade de recherches de Keur Massar, which has placed the suspects under provisional liberty as part of a mediation process while the judicial inquiry continues.
