Senegal interior minister Mouhamadou Makhtar Cissé tours police and fire services, urges public discipline
On 11 June 2026 Senegal’s Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Mouhamadou Makhtar Cissé, began a series of contact visits to police units, reviewing their operations and reaffirming plans to modernise the national police.
The next day he visited the headquarters of the National Brigade of Firemen (BNSP) at the Malick Sy barracks in Dakar. Cissé called on citizens to observe preventive measures, keep emergency lanes clear and avoid obstructing waterways or sewers, stressing that such discipline is vital for rescuers to reach accident sites promptly. He cited a recent highway accident that hindered emergency response as an example of the risks of non‑compliance.
In both visits, the minister highlighted the importance of professional conduct, public‑service quality and closer cooperation between security forces and the population.
