Senegal Judo Federation Prepares for Youth Olympic Games and African Championships
With 103 days remaining until the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, the Senegalese Judo Federation (FSJDA) showcased its preparation plan during a visit to the national judo academy. President Ababacar Ngom highlighted the federation’s focus on youth training, professional coaching, infrastructure development and international visibility, stressing that each effort contributes to a lasting legacy for judo in Senegal.
The federation’s preparations include a high‑level training camp led by French‑Congolese expert Darcel Yandzi and participation in the upcoming African Junior and Cadet Championships in Casablanca, Morocco, which will serve as a test event. After the national dojo was destroyed in December 2022, the navy provided a temporary venue and Japan contributed 381 million CFA to rebuild facilities. Ngom called on athletes to embody judo values while pursuing medals, aiming to demonstrate Senegal’s capability as a host and to leave a durable sporting heritage.
