Senegal launches ecomobility project in Ziguinchor and Bignona

A new ecomobility and youth entrepreneurship project is being launched in the Ziguinchor and Bignona departments of Senegal. Managed by the National Agency for Youth Employment (ANPEJ) in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the pilot phase aims to create 50 direct jobs, with 30 percent of these positions reserved for young women aged 18 to 35.

The initiative seeks to restructure the local moto-taxi sector by introducing more robust electric motorcycles. This approach is intended to address road safety concerns associated with traditional Jakarta motorcycles, promote environmental protection, and provide sustainable employment in the Casamance region. This project follows similar pilot programs previously conducted in Matam and Mbour.
