Senegal launches Masterplan 2025-2034 for economic sovereignty

Senegal has introduced its Masterplan 2025-2034, the first operational phase of the broader Vision Senegal 2050. The strategic roadmap aims to foster a sovereign and autonomous economy through four primary pillars: a competitive economy, human capital development, sustainable territorial planning, and reformed governance.

To reduce import dependency and increase local resource processing, the government is prioritizing sectors such as agriculture, agro-industry, mining, hydrocarbons, manufacturing, and digital services. Key planned projects include the development of agropoles, the industrialization of iron, more efficient exploitation of gold, marble, and salt, increased fertilizer production, and the expansion of the gas network. The plan also targets a reduction in the agri-food deficit from 500 billion to less than 100 billion FCFA.

Beyond economic production, the Masterplan emphasizes social and institutional transformation. This includes preparing the youth for future economic shifts through improved training and employability, enhancing the attractiveness of various territories to ensure balanced regional development, and modernizing public administration through digital infrastructure and identity systems.
