Senegal Minister Diouf Calls for End to Populist Sovereignism, Decries Parliamentary Sabotage

Senegalese Minister of the Interior Abdourahmane Diouf said the government will abandon the “populist sovereignism” that, in his view, has damaged the country’s diplomatic standing and business climate. He argued that the rhetoric has eroded partner confidence and that the government must now focus on concrete development work for Senegalese citizens.

Diouf criticised the current parliamentary majority, accusing it of systematic sabotage that blocks the president and government from presenting a positive record. He urged supporters to mobilise behind President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and to seek a new National Assembly that can cooperate with the executive to restore credibility and launch new development projects.
