Senegal mobilizes 55 billion FCFA on regional public securities market

Senegal successfully raised 55 billion FCFA through the West African Monetary Union (UMOA) public securities market on Friday, October 23, 2026. The operation exceeded the government's initial target of 50 billion FCFA, attracting subscription offers totaling 69 billion FCFA, which represents a coverage ratio of 138%.

The fundraising was achieved through a simultaneous issuance of a 364-day Treasury Bill (BAT) and two Treasury Bonds (OAT) with maturities of three and five years. The 364-day BAT raised 18 billion FCFA at a weighted average rate of 8.06%. The three-year OAT raised 4 billion FCFA, while the five-year OAT accounted for 38 billion FCFA, reflecting strong investor preference for longer-term instruments.

This successful mobilization follows recent activity in the regional market, including an October 9 operation where Senegal raised 74.3 billion FCFA against an 80 billion FCFA target.
