Senegal National Assembly opens tense extraordinary session

The National Assembly of Senegal opened an extraordinary session on Monday, August 10, 2026, amid significant institutional tension. The agenda includes eleven legislative items, most notably two politically sensitive proposals: an amendment to Article 37 of the Constitution and a new legal regime for special credits, commonly referred to as “political funds.”
