Senegal National Police announces major leadership changes and dismissals

The Senegalese Ministry of the Interior and Public Security has announced a major restructuring of the National Police. Minister Mamadou Makhtar Cissé has appointed 19 senior officials to strategic positions, including roles in cybersecurity, urban security, and the Versatile Intervention Brigade (BIP). Key appointments include Elhadji Lamdou Ndione as Commandant of the BIP and Papa Adama Ndong as head of the Special Cybersecurity Division.

Simultaneously, the 49th promotion of the National Police is facing significant controversy. Following a long training period and a two-year delay in salary payments, 86 agents have reportedly been informed of their dismissal. While authorities cited insufficient training results as the reason, the affected agents are contesting the decision and demanding transparency regarding their evaluations.
