Senegal national team: Patrick Vieira announces four new players

Senegal national team coach Patrick Vieira has unveiled his first squad list, featuring four new players. The call-ups come ahead of upcoming matches against Mozambique and Ethiopia for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) qualifiers, as well as a friendly against Comoros in Marseille.

In goal, Vieira is rebuilding the position following the international retirement of Édouard Mendy. The new additions include 28-year-old Monza goalkeeper Ngagne Demba Thiam and 20-year-old AS Saint-Étienne goalkeeper Mamour Ndiaye, who will join established keeper Yehvann Diouf.

The defensive line also sees new faces with the inclusion of AS Monaco center-back Sadibou Sané and AJ Auxerre right-back Lamine Sy. The selection reflects Vieira’s strategy to integrate new talent from European leagues while maintaining the team's existing core structure.
