Senegal national team to host Mozambique at Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium
The Senegalese Football Federation has confirmed that the national football team, known as the Lions, will return to the Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium to host Mozambique. The match is scheduled for September 25, 2026, as part of the opening round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) qualifiers.
This return to the Dakar-based stadium follows several years of matches being held at the Abdoulaye-Wade Stadium in Diamniadio. The shift is due to the Diamniadio venue being utilized for preparations for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games, including the opening ceremony. The Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium, formerly known as the Friendship Stadium, has undergone renovations through cooperation with China and has recently received CAF accreditation for international matches.
