Senegal President Announces Open Call for ARTP Director General

The Presidency of Senegal clarified the launch of an open call for candidates to the post of Director General of the Autorité de Régulation des Télécommunications et des Postes (ARTP). President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, while retaining discretionary power over civil and military appointments, reaffirmed his commitment to a transparent, competitive recruitment process for certain public positions. The Presidency cited previous applications for the director of ARCOP, members of OFNAC and ARTP boards, and rectors of five public universities as examples of this approach.

It emphasized that the telecommunications and postal sectors are strategic for the implementation of Senegal's 2050 National Transformation Agenda and the New Technological Deal, requiring highly qualified leadership selected solely on competence. The Presidency also announced that the open‑recruitment method will gradually be extended to other executive bodies of independent administrative authorities across both economic and public‑freedom domains. “La transparence dans la gestion publique n’est pas une promesse. Elle est une méthode de gouvernement.”
