Senegal is addressing significant fiscal challenges, including 1,956 billion CFA francs in cumulative state payment arrears. Prime Minister Ahmadou Al Aminou Lô has prioritized settling these debts to support the private sector and restore economic stability. The government is also negotiating a new 2.2 billion dollar program with the IMF focused on investment and transparency.

Simultaneously, a major investigation has been launched into the Yaakaar-Teranga gas project. President Bassirou Diomaye Faye instructed the Inspection Générale d'État (IGE) to investigate the withdrawal of Kosmos Energy, following claims by the Prime Minister that the state lost 55 million dollars (approximately 30 billion CFA francs) due to unexecuted obligations.
