Senegal raises 71.5 bn FCFA, exceeding target in UMOA bond market
Senegal’s Treasury issued a 364‑day Treasury bill and 3‑ and 5‑year Treasury bonds on the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UMOA) market, raising 71.5 bn FCFA. The amount surpassed the original 65 bn FCFA target. Investors submitted bids totaling 82.98 bn FCFA, giving a coverage ratio of 127.67 % and an absorption rate of 86.16 %.
The short‑term bill attracted 34.3 bn FCFA, while the three‑year and five‑year bonds raised 23.4 bn FCFA and 13.8 bn FCFA respectively. Subscriptions came from investors in Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Togo, Benin and Mali, underscoring strong demand for Senegalese sovereign debt despite a challenging financing environment.
