Senegal River levels approach alert thresholds in Podor and Richard-Toll
Hydrological conditions on the Senegal River basin are showing gradual improvement, with water levels generally decreasing and remaining below 2025 levels. At the Manantali dam, the water level is recorded at 208.15 meters, which is slightly above the normal level of 208.05 meters but well below the exceptional threshold of 211 meters.
Despite the overall downward trend in tributaries like the Falémé and Bakoye, certain downstream areas require increased vigilance. In Podor, the river level has reached 4.37 meters, leaving a margin of only 63 centimeters before reaching the 5-meter alert threshold. Richard-Toll is currently the most sensitive station, with the water level at 3 meters, just 35 centimeters below its 3.35-meter alert threshold.
