Senegal rolls out national employment convention across regions

Senegal's Directorate of Employment is conducting a nationwide sensitization tour to implement the new National Convention between the State and Private Employers (CNEE), known as ‘And Yombal Xëy’. The initiative aims to decentralize the management of employment promotion, ensuring the framework is effectively applied at the regional level rather than being concentrated solely in Dakar.

Recent workshops have been held in Tambacounda and Ziguinchor, following previous sessions in Kaolack and Saint-Louis. These meetings involve various regional administrative structures, including labor inspections, regional development agencies, and youth and women's entrepreneurship hubs. The discussions focus on the responsibilities of stakeholders and the specific procedures for internship, apprenticeship, and work contracts.

The project is organized by the Ministry of Employment and Technical Vocational Training and receives support from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) through the ADIJEFE project. A manual of procedures has been developed to ensure transparency and traceability in all operations related to the convention.
