Senegal state property sale sparks investigation over price discrepancy

Questions have been raised regarding the management of state-owned real estate in Dakar following reports of a significant price discrepancy in a property sale. A house located at 14, avenue Nelson-Mandela, opposite the Principal Hospital, was allegedly sold for 30 million CFA francs, only to be resold a few years later for nearly one billion CFA francs.

The investigation focuses on whether the property was officially part of the state's assets and its legal status at the time of the initial sale, including whether it served as an official residence for Mouhamadou Makhtar Cissé. There are also calls to verify the involvement of a former Minister of Finance in the transaction.

To determine if administrative irregularities occurred, officials must examine land deeds, administrative records, and notary documents to confirm the legality of the sale, the accuracy of the initial valuation, and the adherence to proper disposal procedures.
