Senegal: Three TikTok creators detained over alleged public insults
Three prominent TikTok content creators—Khadidiatou Kébé (known as ‘Jessica’), Rokhaya Fall (‘Rox’), and ‘Narou’—have been placed under a detention warrant following their arrest by the Special Cybersecurity Division (DSC) in Senegal.
The women were presented to prosecutor Salou Dicko in Pikine-Guédiawaye on charges of suspected public insults and comments contrary to public morality. Although the three individuals reportedly reached a settlement and withdrew their respective complaints against one another, the prosecutor decided to maintain the legal proceedings. The decision to continue the prosecution is based on the nature of the alleged offenses and their dissemination on social media.
The defendants are scheduled to appear before the Pikine-Guédiawaye flagrant offenses court next Wednesday. A collective of lawyers, including Aboubacry Barro, Arona Bass, Alphonse Faye, Takha Cissé, Alioune Sawaré, and El Hadji Diouf, has been formed to represent them.
