Senegal to connect 8,000 primary schools via Starlink

The Senegalese government plans to connect more than 8,000 primary schools to the internet using Starlink, the satellite internet service provided by SpaceX. This initiative aims to reduce the digital divide across different territories and is expected to be implemented ahead of the 2026-2027 school year.

National Education Minister Moustapha Guirassy stated that connecting schools will facilitate access to educational resources for teachers and expand learning opportunities for students. The strategy also includes the digital transformation of school registrations via the Planète 3 platform and training for 105,000 teachers and education staff to improve digital literacy and the use of artificial intelligence in learning.
