Senegal to resume family security grant payments in September

Senegal will resume payments for the National Family Security Grant Program (PNBSF) in September following a suspension to update the National Unique Registry (RNU). Prime Minister Al Aminou Lô announced the restart after a steering committee session, noting that the updated program will support 290,796 vulnerable households across the country.

The update involves a significant renewal of the beneficiary list, with only 24% of the households being from the previous phase. The Ministry of Family has emphasized reinforced inclusion for persons with disabilities. While communal quotas will be maintained, they will be optimized to better reflect local realities and accommodate new beneficiaries.

Regional distribution shows Thiès with the highest number of households (31,637), followed by Diourbel and Kaolack. The Saint-Louis region ranks eighth nationally with 19,981 households, particularly in the rural areas of Dagana and Podor. Kédougou has the smallest contingent with 7,034 households.
