Senegal unveils green industrialization strategy for 2026-2030
Senegal has introduced its National Green Industrialization Strategy (SNIV) for 2026-2030, aiming to integrate ecological transition with industrial growth. A key component of the plan is to increase the share of renewable energy in the national energy mix to 40% by 2030.
The strategy involves a planned investment of 350 billion FCFA to develop 45 industrial zones and 30 agro-industrial zones across the country. These zones are intended to strengthen economic sovereignty, promote local production transformation, and create sustainable employment opportunities for the private sector and small to medium-sized enterprises.
In support of these environmental goals, the Minister of Environment and Ecological Transition, Aliou Gori Diouf, emphasized the government's commitment to placing youth at the center of the nation's climate change combat. This focus aligns with the broader Vision Senegal 2050 framework, which seeks to balance industrial development with environmental protection and circular economy principles.
