Air Sénégal faces potential strike and flight disruptions

Air Sénégal faces potential flight disruptions starting October 15, 2026, due to a strike notice issued by the Syndicat des personnels des activités aéronautiques du Sénégal (SYNPAAS). The union is protesting the lack of response to its demands and a significant financial dispute involving a debt of over 31 billion FCFA owed by the national carrier to LAS SA, the manager of Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD).

SYNPAAS has criticized the silence of the supervising ministry and accused the airline of failing to address its grievances while continuing to collect passenger fees. The timing of the strike notice coincides with the transition to the IATA winter aeronautical season, a period critical for long-haul flight adjustments and commercial revenue.

Separately, meteorological reports for the region indicate widespread weather instability. In Guinea, thunderstorms are expected along the coast and in various inland localities. In Senegal, the national civil aviation and meteorology agency (ANACIM) has warned of intensifying rains and thunderstorms across several regions, including Dakar, Casamance, and Thiès, advising maritime users to exercise caution.
