Senegalese Customs conducts civic training at UGB

As part of the 2026 Citizen Camp at Université Gaston Berger (UGB) in Saint-Louis, the Senegalese Customs Administration held a dedicated session on August 24 to educate students on the institution's socio-economic and security roles.

Nearly 400 participants, including students and security forces, attended panels covering various critical themes. Discussions focused on the customs administration's fiscal and economic responsibilities, the implementation of gender policies within the institution, the importance of fiscal citizenship, and efforts to combat international drug trafficking.

Customs officials, including Lieutenant-Colonel Rokhaya Wade and Lieutenant-Colonel Souleymane Mbengue, explained how the agency balances state revenue collection with the protection of local industry and the facilitation of legitimate trade. The initiative aims to foster responsible citizenship and provide students with a deeper understanding of the agency's impact on national development.
