Senegalese developer detained in 498 million CFA land fraud case

Real estate developer Abdou Ndiaye has been taken into custody following allegations of land fraud involving nearly 500 members of the 38th promotion of the Senegalese Gendarmerie. The victims, organized as a cooperative, claim they paid a total of 498.5 million CFA francs for the acquisition of housing or land parcels.

The project, which dates back to 2018, was reportedly located in an area between Diamniadio, Sébikotane, and Dougar. However, the members state they have never received the promised properties despite the significant financial investment. Investigations have revealed that the project may have been situated within a classified forest zone, raising questions about how the project was initiated and whether state technical services played a role in its validation.

Ndiaye was apprehended by the central brigade of the DSCOS and is currently being held at the Foire gendarmerie brigade. Investigators are working to determine the ultimate destination of the funds and the potential involvement of other individuals or services in the operation.
