Senegalese footballers perform in European leagues

Several Senegalese players achieved notable results in European football competitions this past weekend. In the English Premier League, Nicolas Jackson scored twice to lead Aston Villa to a 2-1 victory over Manchester City. During the match, Iliman Ndiaye provided an assist for Erling Haaland, while Ibrahim Mbaye assisted Jackson’s second goal.

In France, Boulaye Dia scored the opening goal for Rennes in a significant Ligue 1 victory. Other Senegalese players, including Mouhamed Ndiaye, Saliou Faye, Ibrahima Cissé, and Massiré Sylla, also recorded goals.

Midfielder Pape Gueye, who is a candidate for the African Ballon d’Or, was recently involved in a red card incident during league play. Gueye has expressed his ambitions regarding the individual award, noting that winning the African Cup of Nations and achieving high individual marks in La Liga have made the trophy a personal goal.
