Senegalese Journalist Madiambal Diagne Appeals French Extradition Order
Senegalese journalist and media owner Madiambal Diagne has lodged a petition before France’s Court of Cassation to challenge a Versailles Court of Appeal ruling that ordered his partial extradition to Senegal. The appeal will set out the legal arguments ("means of cassation") required to overturn the decision, but it does not automatically suspend the extradition process.
French authorities may still proceed with the transfer pending the outcome, which could depend on a presidential decree by Emmanuel Macron. The case stems from the ongoing “Ellipse Projects” investigation for which Senegal has issued an international arrest warrant against Diagne. His legal team also indicated readiness to approach the Conseil d’État should a decree be issued.
The proceedings mark a new phase in a high‑profile cross‑border legal dispute closely watched in both France and Senegal.
