Senegalese journalists launch African Sports Editions

Four Senegalese journalists—Cheikh Tidiane Fall, Mamadou Koumé, Khalifa Babacar Ndiaye, and Abdoulaye Dabo—have founded African Sports Editions (ESA). The new publishing house aims to document and celebrate the careers of African sporting figures, focusing on both athletic achievements and the human dimension of their journeys.

The company is debuting with the ‘Coeur de Lion’ collection, which features biographies of prominent Senegalese athletes. The inaugural volume focuses on El Hadj Amadou Dia Ba, Senegal’s sole Olympic medalist, detailing his journey from the Medina district of Dakar to winning silver in the 400m hurdles at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Co-founder Mamadou Koumé stated that the initiative addresses a specific need to preserve the legacies of sports legends, administrators, and technicians. A book dedication ceremony for Dia Ba is scheduled for October 24 at the Pullman Hotel.
