Senegalese leaders call for social cohesion and peace
Religious and administrative leaders in Senegal are calling for increased social cohesion and peacebuilding efforts. During the Darou Salam Chérif religious gathering, Chérif Boune Chamsidine Aïdara, spokesperson for the General Khalife and president of FEDARCC, emphasized the role of religious mediation in preventing conflict and fostering unity in the Casamance region.
Aïdara also highlighted the need for improved local infrastructure, specifically requesting the rehabilitation of roads, better access to potable water, and enhanced health and security services to support the local population.
In Kolda, Prefect Mbassa Sène issued a similar call to religious actors, including priests and laity, to act as ‘artisans of national cohesion.’ Speaking at an international forum, Sène urged religious communities to translate messages of peace, forgiveness, and reconciliation into concrete actions to combat global and local tensions.
