Senegalese municipalities invest in educational resources

Local governments in Senegal are implementing various initiatives to support students and improve educational infrastructure for the 2026-2027 academic year.

In Saint-Louis, the municipality has distributed digital equipment to ten educational institutions, including eight elementary schools and two middle schools. Through a partnership with the NGO Action Éducation under the ACTE 2 project, the donation includes 12 laptops, 10 projectors, 10 printers, 10 micro-woofers, and 12 internet modems. This follows previous municipal investments, such as the provision of 1,200 desks last year and an annual budget of 14.5 million FCFA for school supplies.

In Sindia, the municipality has allocated 35 million FCFA to purchase school supplies, including notebooks, pens, and pencils, to alleviate the financial burden on families. The initiative also includes the distribution of 530 desks to local schools and the provision of Quranic books and supplies to community daaras. Additionally, local hygiene services have been deployed to ensure school facilities are suitable for students.
