Senegalese national arrested after illegal Canada–U.S. border crossing
Khadim Ndiaye, a 29-year-old Senegalese national, was arrested on September 30, 2026, after illegally crossing the Canada–United States border near North Troy, Vermont. U.S. Border Patrol agents detected tracks in a wooded area and spotted a man near a stream who attempted to flee on foot. After a search, authorities apprehended Ndiaye, who was covered in mud and vegetation.
Fingerprint verification revealed that Ndiaye had a prior arrest in Arizona in 2023 for irregular entry into the United States. Additionally, authorities discovered an active arrest warrant issued by a New York County criminal court related to a September 2025 arrest for alleged attempted aggravated rape. Records indicate Ndiaye left the U.S. shortly after that arrest in September 2025.
Ndiaye now faces federal proceedings for his recent illegal entry, an offense that carries a potential sentence of up to six months in prison. He remains under the presumption of innocence regarding the criminal allegations.
