Senegalese politicians criticize Kiiraay party and political transhumance

Senegalese political figures are criticizing the current political landscape, specifically targeting the emergence of the Kiiraay party and the phenomenon of political transhumance. Tidiane Sall, a member of the République des Valeurs, has publicly challenged President Bassirou Diomaye Faye regarding his promise of a political break. Sall argues that the tendency of politicians to switch allegiances to remain close to power undermines the link between elected officials and their voters.

Deputy Thierno Alassane Sall has also voiced strong opposition, describing the Kiiraay party as a “soupou kandja of shame,” a metaphor suggesting it is a disorganized mixture of various political factions, including elements from Pastef, APR, PDS, and Takku-Wallu.

Beyond political maneuvering, Thierno Alassane Sall highlighted ongoing social and economic challenges in Senegal, including difficulties with access to electricity and water, rising fuel costs, insecurity, and issues surrounding healthcare and irregular migration.
