Senegalese Professional Football League clears 121 million CFA francs in debt

The President of the Senegalese Professional Football League (LSFP), Babacar Ndiaye, announced during an ordinary general assembly that 121.4 million CFA francs in accumulated debts have been cleared. This settlement covers arrears from 2021 through the 2024-2025 season, including payments for Ligue 2 champions, runners-up, and League Cup winners.

Ndiaye stated that all checks would be available by Tuesday or Wednesday, providing relief to clubs such as Jaraaf, Génération Foot, HLM, Walidane, Essamay, and Stade de Mbour. Some Ligue 1 clubs, including Sonacos, Teungueth FC, and AJEL, have already received their payments. The LSFP reported closing the 2025-2026 season with a positive balance of 78.6 million CFA francs.

Regarding the upcoming season, the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 championships are scheduled to begin on October 3. Ndiaye also addressed concerns regarding the Olympic Games, asserting that the sporting calendar would not be disrupted. Additionally, the league discussed efforts to reduce competition organization costs and mentioned the potential adoption of new FIFA refereeing technology.
